I have the honour to transcribe an extract
from the Official Log Book of the British Steamship
"Bengloe" of Leith.
"Extract from Official Log Book of
British s.s. "Bengloe".
Saigon, 25th May. 1894.
I wish to certify that this steamer ar-
rived at Cape St. James at 9 p.m. May 14th from
Hong Kong was boarded by a pilot, and as we were
proceeding toward the river a boat put off with the
quarantine flag flying. I stopped the ship and
showed ny Rill of Health
they informed the pilot
to anchor the steamer in the big River at 2.30 p.m.

Harbour Master came alongside and ordered the pilot
